‘Tis the season for family fun, lots of holiday activities, and wondering how to fit in a good workout. I always love running, but especially in a busy season like this. I always appreciate the amazing feeling I get when I can hold dumbbells, put on my headphones, and after 20-30 minutes, I’m sweaty and motivated to tackle the day.
For today’s post, I wanted to share a quick workout that you can do anywhere during the holiday season. All you need are medium dumbbells and a mat. Please let me know if you try it! (As always, talk to your doctor before making any changes and respect your body.)
Holiday Strength Circuit Workout
Forms and instructions:
Squat to Upright Row
Holding the dumbbells, keep your chest lifted and your weight in your heels as you climb down and back. Exhale and squeeze your booty to rise, and hold a straight line overhead.
Skip Squats
Make sure you land softly with bent knees. As you grow, reach your hands up, and try to create lightness within the movement. Squat as low as you can and reach as high as you can.
Curtsy Lunges
Cross one leg back and behind the other, and come down in a crouch. The front foot is flat on the ground and the back foot is raised with the heel off the ground.
Frogs
Start in a plié squat position. Bring your hands down to touch the floor (keep your chest up). Jump and land, touch the ground.
Biceps Curl to Overhead Press
Holding a dumbbell, squeeze the biceps and exhale as you curl, inhale to bring the weights up to 90 degrees and exhale to press the top.
Push-up to Renegade Row
Start in a plank position, on your knees or toes, holding dumbbells in both hands. Keep your hips in line with your spine, and exhale, squeezing your chest, to lift. Lift one dumbbell up and squeeze your back to rotate the mask toward your torso, keeping the mask close to you. Lower down and repeat on the other side.
Scissors
Exhale leaving your head and shoulders down, hold the back of the knee with both hands. Legs should be straight or bent, and very strongly, change your legs.
Note: These photos were originally taken as part of a paid service, which is still available, but I wanted you guys to have a chance to exercise on vacation. I paid for the clothes out of pocket.
These tights it’s practical, intuitive (<- very important) and great for practicing with Orangetheory. They also have the largest size available.
This fur is Under Armor’s most popular brand and also makes for easy holiday gifts. You can find them in different colors for women, men, and children. They are super soft and comfortable for lounging around or wearing to and from the gym.
Please let me know if you try the workout and what you think! I’m going to do a quick workout and meet my college friend for coffee. 🙂
I hope you have a great morning and I’ll see you soon!
